Details:
Print today is not what it was when I started in this business. When I was first taught print, so many factors were involved that, thanks to technology, are no longer neccessary.
For instance, to set type required a formula in order to figure out what size typeface and leading were needed in order to fit any given area. This was then produced and you had to cut and paste them onto boards preparing them for "camera ready" and having them shot and seperated before print. Back then, if you were incorrect about something, it was a major set back in print time and cost. Now it is a matter of converting things to a PDF file.
I wonder how many people today even know what "Character per Pica" means, or for that matter what a pica is.
